National Planning Framework and the impact on Cricket Print E-mail

Some of you may be aware of the new National Planning Policy (NPP) Framework which has been produced by the coalition government.

Currently it is in draft form and is currently out for public consultation. The ECB, in conjunction with Sport England, have reviewed this document and it has raised a number of concerns that we feel will have a significant impact at all levels of cricket.

Please click here for a letter which briefly summarises the proposed changes to planning policy and identifies the risks to cricket. Please click here for a full copy of the NPP framework in its entirety.

Please could all Clubs comment on the public consultation, so that we can galvanise as much support to ensure the long term future of cricket.  Please click here for a template letter, if clubs wish to use and feel appropriate.

Please note the public consultation finishes on 17 October 2011.

Suffolk OSCA’s 2011 Print E-mail

By now Suffolk’s OSCA winners, runners up and those that received commendations and certificates of appreciation should be hearing the rattle of the letterbox as their certificates and letters arrive through the post.

2011 has been a really good year for cricket. The VCricket scheme launched in January and is well on the way to seeing the first 50 volunteers achieve their VCricket awards.

Volunteering has also featured highly this year and it’s no surprise to note that this years OSCA’s were pretty well supported with 24 nominations arriving on my desk across the seven categories. 14 of the 25 Clubmark Clubs nominated volunteers and the standard of nominations was staggeringly good.

The accompanying PDF highlights this years OSCA winners, but all of those nominated are worth a mention. In no particular order:

Andy Rose (FandCY), Anne-Marie Shropshire (Sudbury), Suzanne Brice (Lowestoft Town), Don & Velda Lummis (Stradbroke), Sue Culley and Flo Wilkinson (Copdock), Alan Rogers & Brian Munson (E. Bergholt), Barbara Cross (Tuddenham), Graham Moss (Woolpit), Liz Read and Antony Wright (Beccles), Fiona Bensley (Worlingworth), Rhys Smith (IES), Tom Robotham and Sam Harrison (Bury St Edmunds), Richard Langford (Stowupland) and Georgia Ridge (Suffolk Umpires & Scorers Association).

It only remains for me to thank those that took the time to sit down and pen the nominations – no mean feat given the time of year and how busy we all are and also to wish our County Winners the very best of luck at the National Awards event on the 17th October.
