Women's and Girls' Club Cricket Print E-mail

There are 12 clubs in Suffolk with established women’s teams playing recreational and competitive league cricket. Nine clubs have dedicated girl’s sections running coaching and competitions. Details of Clubs and Contacts are in the attached PDF .

Senior Leagues
The Marshall Hatchick Two Counties League offers competitive cricket for women’s teams in the Ladies’ Challenge Division. Matches are 35 overs played home and away for each team, typically played on Sundays. In 2011 a new Division 2 will feature six developing teams playing Twenty 20 matches. The Beaumont Seymour Women’s Cricket League is a Twenty 20, Friday evening league, featuring teams from Suffolk and North Essex.  For further details see the Beaumont Seymour website [http://www.bscricket.com/]

The Price Bailey East Anglian Women’s Premier League began in 2010 with five teams competing from Cambs, Herts, Hunts and Mildenhall CC representing Suffolk. The league winner was Cambridge NCI with Mildenhall finishing a creditable third.
 
Junior Leagues
2010 saw the inaugural league competition for The Lady Taverners at U13 and U15 age groups. Eight clubs entered the U15 and six clubs the U13 League. Copdock and Old Ipswichians CC won both leagues with Felixstowe and Young Corinthians CC achieving runner up in both competitions.

Such has been the success and the demand for girls club cricket, that 2011 is likely to feature an additional age group with an U11 league. Other Competitions
The Suffolk Ladies Cricket Tournament is a one day, senior competition hosted by Woodbridge & Old Woodbridgians CC. In 2010 teams were 8 a-side and played 7 overs with Ipswich CC winning the trophy.
