Suffolk County Cricket Board

Suffolk Young Cricketers have established Girl’s County teams at U13 and U15 age groups and in 2009 SYC also ran an U11 Development Squad. The Senior Women’s County team plays in the ECB Women’s County Championships with a full programme of matches.

U13 and U15 Girls
County trials are held in autumn and selected players attend winter coaching sessions to develop their individual skills and team performance. The teams play in the ECB national league competition in the East Regional Division. Play offs and finals are in August and September leading to a national winner.

U11 Girls’ Development Squad
This exciting, new initiative recognises that we need to harness talented sports players at an earlier age and introduce them to cricket. Girls of any level of ability are welcome to come along and join in with the Kwik cricket format sesions. Those girls who are keen then have opportunity to continue working with the county coaches.

10 weekly sessions teaching basic skills and playing fun games indoors start in January and continue until March.

County Women’s Squad
Players are nominated to attend squad training and teams selected to play the regional fixtures. Dates to be advised for Fixtures and Training. Suffolk Women play in Division Five (North & East) of the National LV County Championship. Matches are 50 overs and typically an 11am start.
