Grounds generally have come through cold and snow well and the slow thaw prevented flooding and waterlogging.

Do not be too concerned if your aeration programme has been disrupted, the frost has expanded and contracted the soil profile very efficiently and has done as much good as vertdraining and there will be more to come. Do check for fungal disease on the square.

I have seen red thread, snow mould and fusarium in the last week and if the mild weather continues it may be worth spraying with a fungicide under the advice of a BASIS qualified turf rep. Keep brushing the square if possible every morning but keep off if frost or snow is present.

Make sure all your machinery is serviced and ready for the new season.
