NatWest CricketForce Fundraiser 2011 Print E-mail

We hope you enjoyed NatWest CricketForce 2011.

Thanks to your support, this year was our most successful ever and saw a record 1,914 clubs and thousands of volunteers take part alongside NatWest staff and cricket stars including Steve Finn, Charlotte Edwards, Laura Marsh, Chris Tremlett, Holly Colvin, Ajmal Shahzad, Katherine Brunt, Jenny Gunn and Michael Vaughan.

Incredible projects were completed across England and Wales which could only happen with your help. To re-live some of the highlights visit www.natwest.com/cricket.

At this stage of the season, the ECB are excited to announce that registrations for the NatWest CricketForce Fundraiser are now open! Taking place over the August Bank Holiday weekend 26th – 29th August 2011. This year every club that registers before 1st August will be automatically entered into a prize draw for the chance to win one of the following great prizes from NatWest to help with your club’s fundraising activities:
•An England Player visit to your club (one prize to be won)
•Pairs of NatWest ODI Tickets – England V India at The Emirates ICG Durham, The Kia Oval, Lord’s and SWALEC Stadium, Cardiff (40 pairs to be won)
•Signed 2010 NatWest ODI Series England Bats (15 to be won)
•Signed 2010 NatWest ODI Series England team photos (15 to be won)
Terms and conditions apply.

Last year’s inaugural NatWest CricketForce Fundraiser saw 150 clubs organising events ranging from T20 dads v lads games to BBQs, quiz nights and mini music events, which all helped to raise over £200,000. Clubs taking part used the money raised to fund NatWest CricketForce short term improvements and also longer term development projects. This year, get ahead and raise money now for your NatWest CricketForce 2012 projects!

Brian Lorenzini, Prestwich Cricket Club, said: “The 2010 NatWest CricketForce Fundraiser really gave us a chance to put Prestwich Cricket Club on the map as we became the first showcase club for the event. The amount of support we received from the ECB, NatWest staff, club members, the local community and businesses was fantastic. On the day we raised a total of £3,700 through a T20 tournament, raffles, bbq and donations. The money raised has been put towards new practise nets, which will benefit the adult and junior teams at the club. Everyone at Prestwich Cricket Club is looking forward to the August Bank Holiday already and repeating last year’s success.”

Joining in the action this year, NatWest Ambassador and BBC Commentator Michael Vaughan will create a unique cricket quiz, which clubs will be invited to download closer to the event, and raise funds by charging a small fee to teams entering a Quiz Night at their club.

Newsflash

With the festive period well and truly over and the cricket season fast approaching I would like to turn your attention to the coaching roles which we all have.

As some of you will know, last year Suffolk Cricket Board began a new programme entitled Upskilling Coaches.  The programme was established with the intention of providing Coaches the opportunity to share their existing skills and learn new ones with like-minded people.  The sessions covered a range of topics from one-to-one coaching, specific fielding and batting drills, and how to get the best out of tactical net sessions, but always provided good debate and healthy discussion.

Please find questionnaire aimed at gaining feedback from all members of the Suffolk Coaches Association around the programme.  This is aimed at Coaches who attended last year’s sessions as well as those who would like to attend this coming year.

If you could complete and return to me via e-mail by Friday 19th February as your responses to the questionnaire will shape the upcoming programme.  It is your programme and one which is intended to offer you the opportunity to improve your coaching by focusing on areas that you feel will develop you.

I look forward to your responses shortly.

Kind Regards,

Tom
