SGA Workshop Invitation 17th November 2011 Print E-mail

After the previous two workshops  proved to be a great success, the SGA is holding its final workshop in 2011 on the 17th November 2011 at the premises of Tomlinson Groundcare, 1 Brettenham Road, Hall Orchard, Buxhall, Stowmarket, IP14 3DL

All members of the SGA are being invited to attend, along with all clubs who are affiliated to the Suffolk Cricket Board.

Andy Clarke (IOG/ECB Regional Advisor East) will once again be present to give a short introductory talk which will be followed by a film entitled “Arthur’s Hallowed Turf”.  Arthur is the groundsman. He's a perfectionist who has lovingly tended the cricket pitch for 45 years. Now he is given a new assistant.  This is a cracking little film that all groundsman will warm to.

Also on the evening Tomlinson Groundscare and/or Dennis mowers will again be available on the night to give a short presentation together with maybe a little “hands on “basic machinery maintenance.

We intend to provide attendees a free hot supper and drinks as a thank you to all those who have supported the SGA over the last 12 months.

Places will no doubt fill up fast, due to the popularity of the pervious workshops.  If you would like to attend, please book your place with me as soon as possible, by any of the contact details below:-

Newsflash

I’m conscious that you’ll all be concerned about the impending hosepipe ban, at present coming into force on April 5th and I wanted to ensure you were aware that Suffolk Cricket Board (as well as other affected county boards / ECB) are lobbying respective Water Companies in an attempt to gain an exemption

As well as being in contact with Anglian Water (Suffolk & Essex Water at present haven’t imposed a hosepipe ban however are “monitoring the situation”) I sent this letter on behalf of Suffolk Cricket and all its affiliated clubs.

Of course we all need to make every effort to conserve water usage in our clubs, and I would encourage everyone to visit http://www.anglianwater.co.uk/environment/using-water-wisely/ for advice and guidance on this matter. Details of a water efficiency project will be circulated shortly, which will see products fitted “free of charge” in cricket clubs that meet the required criteria. This is part of a much larger project which will hopefully see in the future rainwater harvesting and other large scale ideas help benefit clubs, in what is becoming an ever increasing problem.

Some helpful tips on actions to take during a hosepipe ban can be found here.

I will continue to keep you updated however rest assured we’re doing all that we can to get this hosepipe ban overturned”
