Cricket Without Boundaries (CWB) is a UK cricket development and AIDS awareness charity. It is run almost entirely by the dedication and enthusiasm of its volunteers. Since its formation in 2005 CWB has become one of the world's leading Cricket Development and AIDS awareness charities. It is dedicated to helping, educating and developing local communities around the world through the spread and growth of cricket. It is about personal empowerment, both for adults and for children. Recently has become ICC’s official African Partner within its Thinkwise Global Aids Partnership initiative using Cricket Development to combat the alarming spread of HIV/AIDs. Working primarily in Sub-Saharan Africa it has sent projects to Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Zambia, Botswana and Namibia. In the process CWB has coached tens of thousands of children in some of the poorest communities in the world as well as training several thousand adults to become ICC qualified cricket coaches. CWB is committed to taking the game of cricket to a new generation of coaches and children in Africa, as well as supporting existing cricket development. We will shortly be advertising for our Autumn 2012 and Spring 2012 Projects, but we have an immediate need for a Tutor for our Botswana Project this April. It is a two weeks project with 9 Volunteers, including a project leader who will manage the day-to-day logistics with the Country Manager who has been liaising with the local cricket authorities. The Tutor will be responsible for the actual coaching. There is a mix bag of experience amongst the volunteers, some experienced cricket coaches, some with very limited experience, but bags of enthusiasm. The standard will be fairly basic, so this part of the role should be straightforward. The key role for the Tutor is to deliver (with the team) our coach education takes the form of teaching the adults the basics of cricket through the ICC's Introduction to Cricket course (which includes coaching, umpiring and scoring) as well as for more developed coaches delivering the ICC's level 1 and 2 awards. We try to link our coaching in with each National Cricket Association's existing development plans. In 2008 we signed a memorandum of understanding with Rwanda Cricket Association, committing to 5 years of support from CWB if the RCA meets it's own development goals. This is critical to the legacy of our trips. More details of exactly what we do are available on our website http://www.cricketwithoutboundaries.com. If you are interesting in volunteering to be a Tutor on one of our projects and would like to find out more please do not hesitate to contact me directly.
