Suffolk's Emerging Player Programme was introduced in 2010 with a view to offer a high class standard of coaching to our elite players between the age range of 13 and 16. The programme focussed on the five key areas of cricket: technical, tactical, physical, mental and lifestyle. At present we have three players on our programme. They are: Beth Absolon James Hodgkinson Sam Webb-Snowling Pictures of Beth, James and Sam can be viewed here: The programme is run by Bobby Flack & Tom Huggins. Below is a profile of our Players: BETH ABSOLON Beth was selected onto Suffolk Cricket Board’s Emerging Players Programme following a rigorous selection process in November 2009 and was reselected for her second year in November 2010. Beth is a 16 year old all-rounder who has represented Suffolk girls sides from the age of 12 and made her full County debut for the Women’ side two years ago and made a high quality 49 before being run out. Through the programme, batting wise, Beth has been working on creating better bases from which to play shot all around the wicket against both seam and spin bowling. With her bowling she is now approaching the crease in straighter lines and with more purpose which along with some other alterations has allowed her to consistently swing the ball with a bit more pace. Sam is a wicket-keeper/batsman who had a very successful 2010 season during which he made his maiden County century for the Under 14’s against Cambridgeshire. For the 2011 season Sam is in the Under 17 squad as a 15 year old. Through the programme we have been working on creating solid bases from which to execute shots all around the wicket, especially allowing him to play straight down the ground with greater ease. With his keeping we are promoting fast feet and maintaining a solid position from which to move easily in any direction.
