The Institute of Groundsmanship has teamed up with the ECB to offer cricket grounds staff a programme of progressive training courses for the management of cricket pitches.

These courses provide a solid base for grounds staff to prepare and maintain a better and safer playing surface.

The Grounds Association actively encourage attendance at these training courses by looking to offer training opportunities to new and existing groundsmen by subsidising training costs.  It is a firm belief of the SGA that all groundsmen would benefit from attending the Foundation level training, whatever your level of experience.

Various training courses are on offer. 

• Foundation Level Part A – Duration 1 day
  Spring Preparation and Summer Maintenance.
• Foundation Level Part B – Duration 1 day
  Autumn Renovation and Winter Maintenance.
• Intermediate – Duration 1 day
  Introduction to the theory.
• Advanced – Duration 1 day
  Understanding the science.
• Management of Sports Turf – Duration 2 days
  Maintenance to Management.
• 5 Day Course
  Includes all aspects from the five courses.

Following the hugely successful Institute of Groundsman (IOG) courses run this year, the following one day courses are available for 2010 at Copdock & OI's CC:

Foundation Part A (Spring Preparation and Summer Maintenance) - Saturday 20th March
Intermediate (Introduction to Theory) - Saturday 10th April
Foundation Part B (Autumn Renovation and Winter Maintenance) - Saturday 18th September

The Suffolk Grounds Association will once again subsidise your course fees if you are attached to an affiliated Suffolk Cricket Board club and have a valid (*) Grounds Membership. This means Foundation Courses will cost £35, whilst the Intermediate will only cost £55. If you do not meet this criteria then the still competitively priced IOG course fees of £75 (Foundation) and £105 (Intermediate) will apply. All courses also include an excellent two course lunch as part of these fees.
